Pre and Post Procedure Instructions
B-Tox, Dermal filler, & Sculptra Pre-Treatment Instructions
- Do NOT consume alcoholic beverages 24 hours prior to treatment (alcohol may thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising).
- Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications, if possible, for a period of 2 weeks before treatment. Medications and supplements such as aspirin, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil supplements, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve and other NSAIDS have a blood thinning effect and can increase the risk of bruising and swelling after injections.
- Schedule your Dermal Filler and/or Tox appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a special event which you may be attending, such as a wedding or vacation. Bruising and swelling may be apparent up to one week after procedure.
- Reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours in advance if you have a rash, cold sore or blemish on the area to be treated.
- If you have a history of cold sores please let your provider know, he/she may prescribe you on an anti-viral medication prior to treatment.
- You are not a candidate if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
B-tox Post-Treatment Instructions
- Do NOT massage the treated area for 24 hours following treatment. Do NOT receive facial/laser treatments or microdermabrasion after Tox injections for at least 10 days. Ask your provider if you are not sure about the time frame of certain services.
- Do NOT lie down for 4 hours after your Tox treatment. This will prevent the product from drifting into an unwanted area of the face such as your eyelid, which may cause dropping of the lid.
- It can take approximately 4 to 7 days for results to be seen. If the desired result is not seen after 2 weeks of your treatment you may need additional Tox. You are allotted 6 units at no cost for touch-up appointments. After 6 units, or the request of an additional area other than the initial treatment, will be charged at regular cost.
- Do NOT perform activities involving straining, heavy lifting, or vigorous exercise for 6 hours after treatment. This will keep the Tox in the intended injected area, and not elsewhere.
Dermal Filler Post-Treatment Instructions
- Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
- Avoid extensive sun or heat for 72 hours.
- If you have swelling you may apply a cool compress for 15 minutes each hour.
- Apply Arnica cream as directed to injected areas to help reduce swelling and bruising.
- Try to sleep face up and slightly elevated if you experience swelling.
- Swelling may take up to two weeks to fully resolve. At this time, area of filler placement may be assessed for need of touch up in any desired areas. If all of the purchased product was used at the time of your initial appointment, there will be a charge for additional filler at a discounted rate.
- Use Tylenol for discomfort.
Sculptra Post-Treatment Instructions
- Massage entire face 5 x/day, 5 minutes at a time, for 5 days.
- Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
- Avoid extensive sun or heat for 72 hours.
- If you have swelling you may apply a cool compress for 15 minutes each hour.
- Apply Arnica cream as directed to injected areas to help reduce swelling and bruising.
- Try to sleep face up and slightly elevated if you experience swelling.
- Swelling may take up to two weeks to fully resolve. At this time, area of filler placement may be assessed for need of touch up in any desired areas. If all of the purchased product was used at the time of your initial appointment, there will be a charge for additional filler at a discounted rate.

Microneedling & IPL Pre-Treatment Instructions
WARNING: Microneedling and IPL is contraindicated for patients with a history of keloid scarring, impaired immune system or difficulty healing, currently taking accutane or steroids, vascular diseases, cardiac abnormalities, hemorrhagic (bleeding) disorder, active bacterial, viral or fungal infection.
- Do not undergo Microneedling or IPL within two weeks of any scheduled special event such as wedding or vacation. You may experience bruising, redness, discoloration, and/or swelling for up to two weeks after your procedure.
- Avoid sun exposure one week prior to treatment.
- Avoid taking NSAID's, (Ibuprofen/Motrin, Aleve, Aspirin) one week prior to treatment.
- Avoid excessive alcohol intake 24 hours prior to appointment.
- Discontinue use of retinol, tretinoin, and/or actives (Viitamins A, C, & E, AHA's/BHA's, tranexamic acid
- If taking a prescription blood thinner, the prescribing physican must approve discontinuing 3 days prior to procedure.
- If personal history of recurrent or frequent cold sores, notify your injector. You will be prescribed an anti-viral medication to be taken before and after your treatment.
- Additionally, a written clearance letter from prescribing physician must be obtained and submitted to your injector.
- Do not wear makeup on the day of your appointment.
Microneedling & IPL Post-Treatment Instructions
- Only use skincare provided by provider for 48 hours post-procedure. This includes avoiding application of make-up, lotions, exfoliating facial cleansars, etc.
- You may wash your face 3 hours post procedure with mild soap or face wash such as CeraVe.
- For excessive dryness, Aquaphor may be applied.
- Avoid sun exposure for two weeks post-procedure
- Treatment area will be prone to sunburn, therefore the use of sunscreen is recommended beginning 48 hours post-procedure.
- After 48 hours, you may resume normal skincare routine with the exception of tretinoin and actives, which may be resumed one week post procedure.
- Use Tylenol and cool compress if any discomfort.
